The Associated Students of Madison’s Student Services Finance Committee met Monday to determine the budget for Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment for the fiscal year 2014-2015 and for Badger Catholic’s eligibility hearing.

PAVE granted more than $80,000

PAVE was granted a final budget of $80,396.20, with a vote of 9-0-1.

The student organization, which members say works to end all forms of sexual violence as well as dating/domestic violence and stalking, had requested a budget of $81,648.88.

SSFC increased the Summer Chair hourly rate to $9.50/hour. SSFC Secretary Dylan Fiedler said PAVE has proved they use their money effectively.

The committee approved an increase in the telephone budget line item by $225 and cut $500 from PAVE’s speaker fee line item.

Badger Catholic

Badger Catholic President Sean McNally said the spiritual organization’s new improvements include a new website and investments in social media for new year.

McNally said Badger Catholic also implemented a leadership development and a new employee management plan while also securing top national speakers George Weigel and Jason Everett.

Badger Catholic presented a budget of $95,755.80, a 5.15 percent reduction from the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

McNally said Badger Catholic had a “continued commitment to fiscal constraint in conjunction with the virtue of prudence.”

Badger Catholic decreased money in their advertising, printing and photocopying budget items, supplies and furniture and programming lines and requested increased funding for food and beverages, resource library books, honoraria and speaker fees.

SSFC will determine the Badger Catholic’s budget Thursday and hear a budget presentation from Supporting Peers in Laidback Listening.
