Body found in Warner Park

A man was found floating in a lagoon in Warner Park Friday afternoon.

Identified as 55-year-old Calvin Ewing, the body was found on the 1500 block of Northport Drive,  the Dane County Medical Examiner’s report said.

According to the incident report, a child who was fishing in the lagoon found the body floating in the water. The body was found eight feet offshore, still fully clothed.

According to Joel DeSpain, Madison Police Department spokesperson, the police are tentatively identifying the body and they believe it is an adult Madison male in his fifties.

DeSpain said there were “no obvious signs of trauma” to the body.

Preliminary results from the forensic autopsy, conducted on Sept. 6, showed the body’s condition consistent with a death caused by drowning, the DCME report said.

Madison’s Police Department and the DCME are continuing the investigation in effort to find a final ruling on the manner and cause of death, the DCME report said.
