Police officer hit by drunk driver

MPD officer faces non life-threatening injuries

A Stoughton man was arrested early Sunday morning after hitting a police car while intoxicated at the intersection of W. Johnson Street and N. Bassett Street.

According to a Madison Police Department incident report:

Twenty-seven-year-old Bryan Dole ran a red light and hit a police car Sunday around 3 a.m. The officer radioed for assistance and responding officers found Dole in his car, which was on the sidewalk. When asked for his driver’s license, Dole produced his credit card.

The officer in the car that was hit suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, including a concussion. She was later treated and released to recover at home.

Dole was arrested on tentative charges of causing injury while driving intoxicated, his third offense of operating while intoxicated, resisting/obstructing and running the red light that caused the accident.
