The woman had driven to a Madison hospital for treatment after her accident, but ultimately left the hospital without being examined and stopped her car in the middle of the intersection of East Main Street and South Butler Street.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to help the woman, who was conscious but unresponsive with her foot on the accelerator.

Responders placed chock blocks in front of the car’s tires to prevent it from moving while they attempted to get through the car’s locked doors.

The woman’s foot pressed down on the accelerator, causing the car to jump the chocks and ram into the ambulance.

The motorist rolled her vehicle and was rushed to the hospital.

No firefighters or MPD officers were injured.
