Madison’s annual Halloween celebration saw more than 35,000 attendees fill the State Street area, but no major problems were reported.

In an information report, Madison Police spokesperson Joel DeSpain said several people were arrested at Freakfest and a number of people were cited for disorderly conduct, depositing human waste and carrying open intoxicants.

According to the report, police and emergency medical personnel responded to a possible heroin overdose at the event.

Several people received minor cuts from items thrown into the air near the Capitol Stage, the report said.

The items were reported to be “throwing stars,” the report said.

Madison Police were assisted by the Madison Fire Department, Fitchburg Police and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, the report said.

Final numbers from the Madison Police Department will be available Monday.
