Madison officials identified homicide victim Lamontez White, age 30, Friday, after investigating reports of a shooting in a residence on Fish Hatchery Road early Thursday morning.
According to a report from the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, White’s autopsy confirmed he had died from a homicidal firearm related trauma.
Madison police responded to the call about shots fired in an apartment on the 2300 block of Fish Hatchery Road around 1:11 a.m. Thursday morning, according to a Madison Police Department statement. The police found White with a gunshot wound inside the apartment, the incident report said.
Police believe there were multiple people inside the apartment when the incident occurred, the report said. The incident is believed to be a non-random act of violence, however investigation is ongoing.
