The suspect, an 18- to 19-year-old black male, reportedly pulled out a knife after the girl refused to give him the iPod she was listening to, the report said.

Joel DeSpain, spokesperson for MPD, said the incident is extremely unusual, and he considers Madison schools to be generally very safe.

NORTHPORT DRIVE

Weapons Violation

MPD officers were summoned after a Madison Metro driver reportedly heard popping sounds after leaving a stop at Northport Drive and School Road.

According to the police report, the driver found BBs near the back of the bus where a window was cracked.

Officers said they believed the BBs had been fired from inside the bus.

SCHOOL ROAD

Weapons Violation

A 33-year-old Madison man reported another weapons offense that occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The victim said he had heard popping sounds outside of his residence but did not realize they had come from a BB gun until he found a hole in his picture window, another MPD report said.

“There’s a possibility that the incident is related to the BB gun violation of Northport Drive, given the time frame and close proximity,” DeSpain said.

DeSpain said the investigation remains open.

JENIFER STREET

Suspicious Person

A 50- to 60-year-old man approached two east side Madison children in Jenifer Street Market on Thursday.

The MPD report said the suspect asked the children what they were going to be for Halloween. After the girl replied that she was dressing up as Marilyn Monroe, the suspect responded that she could have the red dress in his car if they followed him to the vehicle.

The children refused and ran to one victim’s home. The suspect has not been identified.

WOODVALE DRIVE

Fraud

Madison Police were contacted Sunday by a woman on behalf of her elderly parents, who had received numerous calls from a man calling himself “Mr. Bill.”

According an MPD report, the heavily-accented suspect claimed that he had to deliver a large money order to the couple and was affiliated with the company Price Group Unlimited.

The suspect hung up when the woman requested the address of his website. The phone number was traced to Jamaica.
