In a blog post Wednesday morning, Dean of Students Lori Berquam announced she will be leaving University of Wisconsin.
Berquam said her cancer diagnosis last April taught her to “follow your dreams.”
Berquam has been the Dean of Students the past ten years and has enjoyed watching Badgers grow into young throughout her career here at UW.
“I won’t lie, it’s going to be hard to leave the students, friends, and colleagues at UW-Madison, and I will greatly miss the community I love,” Berquam said.

Berquam said she hopes to travel to Italy and Peru this coming summer.
Her departure comes in light of being accepted for a fellowship through the American Council of Education, which will being in August. She is one of 45 fellows accepted into the program.
“The perfect time to take a leap is when you feel comfortable and successful in your work, and that is what I’m doing,” Berquam said.
