Two robbers forced their way into an apartment on the 500 block of State Street early Tuesday morning, demanding money from a 22-year-old victim, according to Madison police report.
Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said no weapon was seen, but the victim said he believed the suspect was in possession of a gun.
The suspects demanded the victim tell them “where the money was kept,” the report said. The suspects then fled the scene carrying a large, undisclosed amount of cash.
DeSpain said the robbery did not appear to be random.
“The investigators at this point believe that apartment was specifically targeted by the suspects,” DeSpain said.
A 22-year-old female was also present, though none of her possessions were stolen.
DeSpain said the victim was not a University of Wisconsin student and there was no cause for worry among students.
