As one of the earliest verbal commits to the Wisconsin football team’s 2016 recruiting class, Antonio Williams could hardly contain his excitement on social media.
But between the constant tweets counting down the number of days until he would arrive on campus and retweeting fellow recruits, something changed.
Williams announced his de-commitment on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Williams’s Twitter avatar had an edited version of himself in Wisconsin gear, and his cover photo supported the Badgers. That all changed after he tweeted this during Wisconsin’s 10-6 loss to Iowa Oct. 3:
He later deleted the tweet and apologized for it.

Earlier this week, 247Sports reported Williams would take an official visit to Ohio State this weekend, which prompted him to de-commit, he said in his Twitter statement.
