A 23-year-old University of Wisconsin student was assaulted on the 300 block of North Frances Street early Saturday morning, according to the UW Police Department.
According to a timely warning email sent out to campus, the male victim was walking on Frances Street with a group around 2:15 a.m. when the suspect, who was walking in another group, punched him in the face without warning.
The victim required medical treatment and stitches, police said.
According to the email, the suspect ran into a nearby parking ramp. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, about 5-foot-8 and with a “thin outline style beard.”
Police are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information should contact UWPD, the email said.
