The Chazen Museum of Art brings to Madison a rare and fantastic collection with its exhibit “Automata: Contemporary Mechanical Sculpture.” These ‘automata’ are animated by the simple act of cranking gears and perform surprisingly intricate acts. Guest curator Cassie Wilkins discusses some plights and delights of showcasing such a peculiar art form.
