ARLINGTON, Texas — The Wisconsin men’s basketball team’s run in the 2014 NCAA Tournament ended in the semifinals Saturday night as Kentucky beat Wisconsin 74-73.
With 5.7 seconds left, Wisconsin owned possession down one point with a chance to win the game at the buzzer. As he has all year long, junior point guard Traevon Jackson took what would be a game-winning jumper and missed long off the backboard.
The Badgers had a seven-point advantage after sophomore forward Sam Dekker hit a three to open the second half. Then Kentucky went on a 15-0 run to take a 51-43 lead.
Wisconsin would fight back to take a two-point lead with just over 16 seconds left in the game.
For the third-straight game, freshman guard Aaron Harrison took and made the game-winning three-point shot.
Kentucky will advance to the NCAA Championship game, where it will take on the University of Connecticut Monday.
