Man struck by hit-and-run driver crossing West Johnson Street

Victim walked away with superficial head, leg injuries

A hit-and-run driver struck a Madison man as he crossed West Johnson Street early Saturday morning.

According to the Madison Police Department incident report:

At 1:04 a.m. Saturday, a car struck a 20-year-old Madison man while he was crossing West Johnson Street at North Basset Street.

The victim had the right to cross when a driver struck him in the middle of the roadway. The driver slowed briefly and assessed the situation before fleeing the scene.

A witness helped the victim out of the roadway. The victim was treated for superficial head and leg injuries at the scene before being taken home by police.
