The investigation into allegations against University of Wisconsin former associate athletic director John Chadima did not find additional accusations of sexual impropriety or abuse of authority, according to a statement released by Chadima’s lawyer on Friday.
However, the statement references apparent claims from the investigative report, saying it is “regrettable” UW has given weight to anonymous allegations.
“It is implausible to believe that a 20 something former college football player would cower and lock himself in a bathroom because of a claimed fear of a 5’9″, 170 pound, 45 year old man who was supposedly intoxicated,” the statement added.
The statement also includes multiple letters from former UW football players, attesting to Chadima’s character and work at the Athletic Department.
Chadima said he has struggled to address the anonymous allegations of matters that he says he does not recall. He added the supportive statements have fueled a commitment to seek help through counseling, stress management and faith-based guidance, particularly for alcohol.
“John is not entirely without fault and human frailties, but he has paid a dreadfully disproportionate price,” Charles Giesen, Chadima’s attorney, said. “We trust that the investigative report and its conclusion that there are no other allegations.”
