AS IF I COULDN’T BE MORE EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE.
Like a single delicate snowflake drifting in Tuesday’s sea of gray mediocrity, the playful, plunking and unassuming “Grand Budapest Hotel” soundtrack became available to stream on Pitchfork Advance Tuesday. Wes Anderson’s ninth feature film officially debuts March 7.
The film, which debuted Feb. 6 at the Berlin Film Festival, is scored by prolific French composer Alexandre Desplat. It’s also the only place where you’ll see Ralph Fiennes, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman and Tilda Swinton all together, just to name a few.
Like Anderson’s films, this score is sweeping, exacting and delights in the details. My early favorites include: “Mr. Moustafa,” “Daylight Express to Lutz” and “Night Train to Nebelsbad.”
