Madison’s City Council officially changed the city logo in a meeting Tuesday night, opting for a new, more “classic” and, apparently, a more accurate image.
Ald. Mike Verveer, District 4, said the current city logo is dated and does not correctly depict the Madison skyline.
“We’ve already been using it and I think it’s cooler and it is a lot more timeless than the existing one,” Verveer said.
He said the city’s Information Technology department staff “detested” the old logo and proposed the idea for a new one four months ago.
The new logo was originally used by the city’s Department of Engineering. The city will now begin the process of changing the logo on city vehicles and other public items featuring the old logo.
