An altercation led to shots fired in the West Towne Mall area Saturday evening.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Dane County Communications Center received numerous calls reporting shots fired in the mall’s vicinity, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
A small group of people were involved in a physical disturbance which reportedly began inside the mall and then moved into the parking lot, the report said.
In the parking lot, one subject had a firearm and fired a shot. The report said MPD believes several additional shots were fired after as the subject was fleeing the scene.
There were no injuries reported and everyone involved in the dispute had fled before officers arrived on the scene, according to the report.
The report said MPD believes the subjects involved knew each other and that the incident was likely part of an ongoing disagreement.
