#TheRealUW is when people driving by in a car find it necessary and comical to roll down their window and scream “Lalala Allah Akbar” at me and my friend, both hijab-wearing women.
#TheRealUW is when my friends took the time to talk about their experiences as Muslim women on campus wearing their headscarf and their experiences with Islamophobia (which is very prevalent today) in an article written by the Daily Cardinal, only to have to sit there and read comments of people tearing them down, calling them disgusting things and disregarding their experiences entirely.
#TheRealUW is when I am asked, “How is Al-Qaeda doing?”
