An undercover investigation by the Department of Justice led to criminal heroin trafficking charges for three individuals in Madison.
Undercover agents obtained a warrant and searched the hotel where Laquandis Gibson and Eric Derring were staying on Jan. 18. The search turned up almost 20 grams of heroin, two cell phones, a digital scale and cash, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dane County.
The Department of Justice collaborated with Madison, Monona and DeForest police departments to conduct an undercover operation to purchase half a gram of heroin from Robert Adams, as well as Gibson and Derring on four occasions earlier this month.
Gibson admitted to selling heroin with Derring in an interview with state agents on Jan. 17.
Felony charges have been filed by Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne.
