Bullet fired through Kennedy Heights residence

A SWAT team was called to a residence on the north side of Madison in Kennedy Heights after a resident reported a bullet being fired through her wall Wednesday night.

According to a Madison Police Department statement, the female victim had children present when she heard the noise of a bullet going through the wall at 7:25 p.m. At this point, it appears the shot was fired from the adjacent apartment at 125 Kennedy Heights, the statement said.

Police recovered a bullet casing, the statement added.

According to the statement no one was injured, and all nearby residences were evacuated.

UPDATE

A police investigation revealed that Madison resident Joseph Ross, 21, was handling the handgun in the adjacent apartment when it was accidentally discharged, according to an MPD statement.
