While they will not vote on any policy changes, University of Wisconsin’s Faculty Senate will review the efforts of several committees to administer a campus-wide diversity survey and improve information technology services at a meeting Monday.

The Committee on Access and Accommodation Instruction, which is primarily charged with monitoring university compliance with state and federal mandates such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, will present its annual report.

During the past year, the committee has served as consultants to the McBurney Disability Resource Center while it addressed its flexibility-accommodation policy, the report said. The committee also worked with the Human Resource Redesign Team to ensure disability was attended to and served as consultants for Women in Science and Engineering Leadership Institute, the report said.

The largest project the committee worked on was creating and administering a campus-wide survey to assess experiences with accessibility, perceptions of barriers, attitudes toward accommodation, inclusion of student with disabilities in campus life, self-assessment of knowledge about disability and a selection of demographic data, the report said.

The results of this survey will direct the work of the committee in the next year. Additionally, the report said the committee will address its scope and duties in the next year, with the possibility that the committee will merge with another already existing committee.

For the upcoming year, Information Technology Committee, which is the faculty advisory body for policy and planning for information technology, also plans to continue its progress in researching computing support, teaching and learning support and helping with administrative excellence and integration of IT leadership and governance across campus, the report said.

ITC will also address challenges faced by shared governance committees and aims to increase collaboration across various departments.
