The University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday night for their final road game of the season. Coming off a disappointing 2-0 loss to Penn State on Sunday, the Badgers are looking to get back on track as they round out their Big Ten Conference schedule.
The Badgers are now 10-4-2 overall and 4-3-2 in Big Ten play while the Iowa Hawkeyes are just 8-6-1 overall with a 3-4-1 conference record. But after a 0-3-1 start in the Big Ten, the Hawkeyes have won three of their last four games, which is a promising turnaround with the Big Ten Tournament approaching.
The Hawkeyes are led in scoring by Devin Burns with eight goals and five assists, Kaleigh Haus with five goals and four assists and Olivia Fiegel with six goals. This combination of offensive firepower has led the Hawkeyes to have the fifth best offensive team in the Big Ten.
The Hawkeyes are currently ranked No. 9 in the Big Ten and look to potentially leap Purdue or Nebraska in the standings with wins in their final two conference games.
The Badgers sit at No. 6 in the Big Ten and trail Rutgers and Northwestern by one and two points, respectively. The Badgers have two games to make up ground with their final two matchups of the year in Iowa and their last home game against Penn State next Wednesday.
This is an important final stretch for Wisconsin with the upcoming Big Ten Tournament. They started conference play red hot and were riding a seven-game winning streak, but have been 2-3-2 ever since.
This is a perfect opportunity for the Badgers to turn around their recent struggle and get their offense rolling with the help of Dani Rhodes as the most challenging part of the season approaches.
The Badges will take on the Hawkeyes at 7 p.m. in Iowa City on Saturday night. The game will be available to watch on Big Ten Network Plus. Tune in to watch the Badgers play their final road game of the season.
