“Soup of the Day: Ask your server, if they won’t tell you ask the person next to you.”
So reads the soup section of the dinner menu at The Local Tavern, the latest tenant of 102 King St. While the menu is smartly riddled with these bits of comedy, it was not enough to lure in any significant crowds. Asking the person next to me was simply out of the question, as there was no one else. In fact, aside from one laid-back waitress and a slow bartender, there were at maximum only three other patrons in the restaurant at any given moment during my time there. Granted, it was a Monday night, but despite their lack of Monday night popularity, the Local does appear to grasp some staying power with their varied menu and specialty drinks (read: gimlets).
