FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State University assistant men’s basketball coach Will Ryan is interviewing for the job he grew up wanting.
Ryan’s father, Bo, compiled a 353-76 record at Wisconsin-Platteville with four NCAA Division III national championships from 1984 to 1999. The basketball floor is called “Bo Ryan Court.”
Will Ryan says he’s always wanted to be a head coach at Platteville.
He got a chance when Paul Combs left last month after six years to become head coach at Division II Wayne State, Nebraska.
The 30-year-old Ryan is be one of five interviewing for the Platteville job. The others are Todd Adrian, head coach at Edgewood College of Madison, Wis.; Pat Murphy, a Monroe (Wis.) High School coach; Lance Randall, a Cedarburg (Wis.) High School coach and Jeff Gard, a Platteville assistant coach. Gard is the brother of Wisconsin associate head coach Greg Gard.
