Garnett picked up the offensive burden in the second half, scoring six points during a 10-1 burst that put Minnesota ahead by double digits for good.
Joe Smith had 18 points and 12 rebounds against his former team, and Gary Trent added 14 and eight for the Timberwolves, who have won four in a row on the heels of a season-high three-game slide.
