In response to “Destroy ASM? Too late” by Gerald Cox:
I see Paris, I see France, I see “Student Government” coming back!
– Germain E. Stemme
In response to “Progressive blogs give truth a chance” by Harry Waisbren:
Blogging uses “real” news outlets for their sources. Without real news, the echo chamber doesn’t work.
In response to “Breathalyzers at prom uncalled for” by Robert Phansalkar:
1) Breathalyzers aren’t harsh. Last time I checked, there was no anal probe.
2) Puke on the dance floor is a major party foul.
3) Robert, aren’t you a little old to be going to high school proms?
In response to “Media a mirror of public desire” by Bassey Etim:
It used to be a mirror, young man, and I realize this is what you have come to believe in defense of your education and future vocation. But it is no mirror any longer and has not been probably as long as you have been alive. It now leads us what to believe, think and feel, which is quite unfortunate. It does not reflect us. It directs us.
In response to “For safety’s sake, state needs new gun law” by Joe Trovato:
Joe, if we grant you this right to carry a concealed weapon, will you move to the ghetto for a chance to actually use it? Please say yes.
Why not just go all the way and enact a law allowing concealed hand grenades? No ones gonna fuck with you if you’re packing hand grenades!
In response to “‘War on drugs’ cloaks oppression” by Kyle Szarzynski:
Correlation does not equal causation, the low number of deaths from cocaine and heroin could just as easily be tied to the high price caused by the “war on drugs” and the further lack of supply.
Here’s my favorite example: Since the drinking age was made 21 the number of deaths from drunk driving has dropped. Drop in age-> more responsible drinking-> less deaths. But wait! Air bags, seat belts, better built cars, etc…. have made driving safer over all, so the assumption of causation is faulty.
In response to “Which right is right on drugs?” by Andy Granias:
Social ills caused by drugs are worse/equal/better than ills caused by alcohol? Personally, “rights” are allowable if they do not harm, affect others. Stealing the car to buy heroine and stealing a car for joy-riding are both just grand theft auto. Crime is crime. In isolation, doing drugs is not a crime.
In response to “Public financing by way of semantics” by Ryan Masse:
WOW, Obama changed his mind! How dare he? Thanks, Masse, you have shown me that Obama can adapt to current situations and find success without blind ideology. That makes you angry, because it’s different than the stubborn mess of the past 8 years.
