Former Trek executive and state commerce secretary Mary Burke announced her intent to run for the Democratic nomination against Gov. Scott Walker for the 2014 election by a web video.
“Now I’d like to help make our great state of Wisconsin even better as your governor,” Burke said in the video.
Burke currently sits on the Madison Metropolitan School Board, after winning her first political race for the spot last year.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen also announced his plan to not seek his third term in 2014.
Van Hollen said in a statement Monday the Attorney General position should be changed up to incorporate new, fresh ideas, rather than having someone stay at the position for many years.
