A Madtown Hopper driver was attacked early Saturday morning on North Frances Street.
According to a Madison Police Department incident report:
The intoxicated aggressor, Lahcen Martinez, 25, attacked the 21-year-old female Hopper driver just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the 400 block of North Frances Street.
The suspect jumped into the front seat of the Hopper and tried to throw the driver out. She was held into the vehicle, however, by a fastened seatbelt.
Martinez punched the driver in the face and then put a hand over her mouth. The driver, however, bit Martinez and was able to get out of the Hopper successfully.
Martinez attempted to attack the driver again, but a passerby intervened. The passerby was punched in the face, but was able to get Martinez away.
MPD tracked down Martinez who proceeded to struggle with officers.
Police found a six-inch folding knife on Martinez.
The helpful passerby was never identified.
Martinez was arrested for battery of a public transit operator, carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of THC.
