Ian’s Pizza on State Street was chosen to host the only official National Pizza Eating Competition of 2013.
The event, sponsored by All Pro Eating, already has entries from some of the top competitive eaters in the world including University of Wisconsin student Eric Dahl.
Adam May, Ian’s Pizza marketing director, said while the restaurant has hosted amateur eating competitions in the past, this event presented a way to take the competitions to the next level.

“We’ve always wanted to make it bigger and better,” May said.
The competition will be onSept. 21 after the Badger football game.
