Due to Memorial Union construction and budget cuts, this year’s University of Wisconsin Revelry Music and Arts Festival will be held at the Orpheum Theater and feature fewer shows.
In a statement, Revelry organizers explained the changes are necessary to cope with $150,000 worth of funding cuts. The change in venue will shrink the April 30 festival’s capacity from 10,000 to 2,000.
The number of artists performing will also be reduced to a total of six, down from the 27 that performed last year.
Even with the changes, Revelry Executive Director Ayla Kress said she remains confident in the festival’s outlook.
The abbreviated Revelry will now take place between 5 p.m. and 12 a.m. Almost all tickets will be sold to students once they go on sale.
