Madison Fire Department’s Lake Rescue Team responded to a call at the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union Saturday evening in search of a possible drowning victim.
MFD, UW Lifesaving and Dane County Sheriff Deputies received a call about a sailboater that had gone missing around 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
An adult man reportedly jumped from a sailboat near the Terrace into Lake Mendota and did not resurface, other people on the sailboat said.
By 6:45 p.m., authorities still had not located the missing person, but plan to continue their search as conditions allow, according to the Sheriff’s Office release.
