Ed Thompson votes fall short

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Ed Thompson received 3.7 percent of the support in Dane County and 2.2 percent of the vote statewide in Tuesday’s primary election.

This percentage was not enough to meet the 6 percent requirement for Thompson to receive the $210,000 allotted by the state of Wisconsin to each gubernatorial candidate. Regardless, Thompson’s campaign remains optimistic about November’s election.

“We’re actually declaring a victory,” said Josh Morby, Thompson’s spokesperson. “It certainly would have been nice to get the $210,000, but despite that, we’re going to campaign as hard as ever.”
