UW senior majoring in agronomy Soon Li Teh smells the repulsive corpse flower, which has not bloomed in nine years. The flower will only bloom for another few hours.
Community members trickled into the D.C. Smith Greenhouse on Babcock and Linden drives Tuesday afternoon to check out the greenhouse’s resident titan arum, also known as a corpse flower, for its first bloom in its nine year lifespan. The species is named for its characteristic rotting meat smell during blooming.
