More than 500 activists met at Monona Terrace Tuesday morning for the sixth annual Conservation Lobby Day, which focused on environmental issues affecting the state. Rep. Spencer Black, D-Madison, spoke at the event, focusing on the accomplishments the state has made in the past year on conservationist issues. The four main issues of the day were groundwater preservation, sanitation of cleaning water, supporting the Clean Energy Bill and petitioning the governor to allow an independent appointment of the next secretary of the Department of Natural Resources.[/media-credit]
