The Wisconsin football team ends its nonconference slate with a whimper, as the Badgers take on FCS foe Austin Peay.
While hearing the term “FCS” might remind fans of the infamous game against Cal Poly in 2008, nothing about the Governors should be any cause for concern. UW is Austin Peay’s first ever BCS automatically-qualifying opponent, and the Governors just returned to scholarship status four years ago.
Wisconsin has a lot to iron out against Austin Peay. The Badgers would like to finally run up the score on a weak opponent, which they feel they should have done against San Jose State. They also need to experiment on defense, where the task will be to figure out how to replace star linebacker Chris Borland before Big Ten play starts at Michigan State next week. The Badgers have gone as far as to say they will use freshman receiver Manassah Garner as a pass-rusher on third downs.
