A Madison police report said a black man approximately 25 years old entered the Open Pantry store at 1401 Regent Street near Randall Avenue, showed a gun and walked away with an unknown amount of money from the register. The robbery comes just weeks after a similar incident at the same location in which an older man entered the store with a firearm and also walked away with cash.

EAST MIFFLIN
Sexual Assualt
A 44-year-old Madison woman became the victim of sexual assault in a parking lot near the corner of East Mifflin and Blair Streets on Wednesday night, Sept. 22. According to a Madison Police report, a man grabbed the woman as she was exiting the parking lot alone in the early evening and was taken to a secluded area. MPD spokesperson Joel DeSpain said these incidents are not common for the early evening but that people should walk in well-lit areas and in groups at night to avoid them. “People need to continue to be aware of their surrounding after sunset; darkness is hitting earlier and earlier,” DeSpain said.
MERITER HOSPITAL
Trespassing
A Madison teen was arrested Thursday after trespassing at the Meriter Hospital in an attempt to gain the attention of her boyfriend. According to an MPD report, the teen claimed to be a patient, having given birth at the hospital and carrying a car seat to take her child home. The woman was discovered by security to not be a patient and had not given birth, the report said, later confessing that her actions were a scheme to get the attention of her boyfriend.
NORTH STREET
Strong-Arm Robbery
A 34-year-old Madison man was the victim of a strong-arm robbery after accepting a ride off of North Street Thursday night around 11 p.m. An MPD report said the man had entered a silver car upon the invitation of a white or Hispanic female along with a black male passenger and after a half an hour ride, exited the vehicle with the male passenger. There was a struggle and according to the report the black male stole the man’s wallet and returned to the car, leaving with the woman.
MILWAUKEE STREET
Assault on Metro
MPD also arrested a 47-year-old Madison man for causing disturbances on a Metro bus at the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Milwaukee Street Thursday night. MPD was called to the location when the man was found pounding his fists against the bus door after being ushered out by two passengers. The man had been attempting to fit his bike on the bus’ rack and in the process, grew incredibly hot-tempered and belligerent, yelling at passengers and the bus driver.
