Classes are done. We’re free, if only for a week, and its time to unwind. Spring break is just a taste of the freedom of summer, and these carefree, and almost obnoxiously feel-good tunes will help you to think ahead to those glorious days to come, and will provide a great background to those of you who get to lounge on the beach this week. While no one will probably even listen to any of these songs, I encourage it. If anything, they’ll make you happy, you won’t even be able to resist it.
1) Crossing Our Fingers for the Summer (Cinematic Sunrise) As the title suggests, this song is all about looking ahead to summer. I can’t help but love it because I’m absolutely in love with Craig Owens, but its still noteworthy despite my bias.
2) Here Comes the Sun (The Beatles) I feel like not much really needs to be said about this one. I mean, if you don’t know it, don’t tell anyone because you’ll probably be ostracized out of your community.
3) Happy (NeverShoutNever) This song will make you happy. I’m serious. However cheesy Christofer Drew makes his lyrics, and however saccharine sweet his vocals are, this song’s affect is unavoidable. If you just bombed a mid term, just give this one a try.
4) The Perfect Scene (Mercy Mercedes) I can’t help but include pop punk on this play list. It just has this summery feeling to me, and its all so damn catchy. This song’s poppy vocals, sprinkling of electronic effects, and lyrics about the best place to be make this a perfect beach track.
5) Chasing the Night (Every Avenue) Another pop punk song that brings me back to those summer nights in high school where you literally didn’t do anything but they were always the best.
6)My Temerature’s Rising (The Audition) The funky guitar and suggestive lyrics (and Danny Steven’s sexy voice) are like the summer fling you’ve never had. Mmm, I love me some Audition.
7) The Beach (All Time Low) This is such a high schooly song, but I can practically feel the sand burning my feet when I hear it. I really want summer. Like, now.
8) Kids in Love (Mayday Parade) Another song reminiscing about summers past. Summer loves will always make great subjects.
9) Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy (Fall Out Boy) Yeah, this song is really old. Pete Wentz was probably like 18 when they made this song. Now he has a baby. But anyways, this song has nothing to do with summer or anything, I’m just getting all nostalgic about thinking of summers past, and this basically sums up 16 year old Jenny’s summer.
10) The Space Between (Valencia) This is another fairly old song, but it really just embodies summer. Memories, lovers, blue skies, sleeping in…all we could ever want.
I don’t know about you guys, but this whole playlist has left me wanting summer so bad, spring break now seems like a cruel, cruel joke.
