Spring cleaning: A new outlook on food

Hello all. Well, I am *not* excited to be back in classes already. Nothing like a swift slap in the face from the reality of college life. Four days, and the triad of doom has already set in; I’m feeling overworked, overstressed and overtired. So, what do I reach for to help me through a long day? To be honest, lately I’ve gone for heavy complex carbohydrates (think Mom’s mac ‘n’ cheese) and anything and everything chocolate-based (think back to just about every other post here on The Amateur Gourmand). However, these foods basically put you to sleep.

So, for all of you who are looking for a better way to get through the day that doesn’t involve endless cups of coffee, I’m going to be putting together a series of posts on simple strategies you can use to clean up your eating habits. I, for one, have a lot of cleaning up to do.
