Man assaulted in Lake Street parking ramp

University of Wisconsin Police Department released a crime warning Tuesday following the report of a robbery that occurred Monday evening in Southeast Campus Ramp – Lot 46 on Lake Street.

Monday at approximately 8:50 p.m. the victim and five others had been on State Street near the Capitol when the victim fell off his skateboard. According to a UWPD crime report, the group of five offered the man a ride to the hospital to treat his injuries.

The group walked the victim to the parking ramp at Lake Street and West Johnson Street. Once inside the group of five assaulted the victim, injuring him further. According to the report, the victim’s wallet, money and phone were taken.

The victim seemed to know at least one of the suspects involved. Police suspect the attack was not random. No further information has been released about the descriptions of the five suspects.

Marc Lovicott, UWPD spokesperson, said the victim is in his early 20s and is not a UW student.

UWPD is currently investigating the incident.
