A sexual assault reportedly occurred at an “unknown” fraternity Saturday night, according to a University of Wisconsin crime warning sent out Sunday morning.
The university is required under federal law to send public crime warnings to student and staff when incidents such as sexual assault occur.
Marc Lovicott, University of Wisconsin Police Department spokesperson, said there is not an active investigation of the incident at this time because the victim was not interested in formally reporting the assault to the authorities.
According to the crime alert, the victim and suspect knew each other.
As the incident occurred at a fraternity off campus, any further action on the matter will be taken up with the Madison Police Department.
Lovicott said UWPD is working with university resources to assist the victim in the aftermath of the incident.
