Madison police arrested Marcus T. Boone, 27, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman in Fahrenbrook Court last week, according to a police statement.
Police said the victim gave a detailed description of the suspect after the assault, which helped officers as they went through surveillance footage from downtown cameras to determine a person of interest.
Detectives and members of Central District Community Police Team worked undercover and received leads on the identity of the suspect from several citizens, finally leading to Boone’s arrest. Boone faces a first degree sexual assault charge.
The assault occurred at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday morning after Boone allegedly followed the victim along S. Park Street, according to UW-Madison Crime Alert.
Additional details regarding the investigation will be contained in a forthcoming criminal complaint and will not be released at this time, according to the MPD statement.
