Thousands of parents will have a chance to participate in
the University of Wisconsin experience this weekend, as a part of the Wisconsin
Alumni Association's First Year Parents' Weekend 2007.
Nearly 2,600 parents from around the country have already
registered for the event, according to WAA spokesperson Kate Dixon.
"It's a chance for parents to come and see firsthand the
adventures their students are having on campus," Dixon said.
Parents and alumni will attend lectures, mini-courses and a
question-and-answer session with Chancellor John Wiley and Dean of Students
Lori Berquam Friday afternoon.
Wiley said most parents ask about safety on campus,
especially due to aspects of Wisconsin's drinking culture.
