The 22-year old Viterbo University student reported missing was found Wednesday alive and unharmed. Gretchen Lee, a senior majoring in English at the university, was found driving around South Dakota alone and of her own free will Wednesday. Lee was labeled an “endangered” missing person during her absence because she had a past history of depression. The La Crosse Police Department said Lee’s case was specially filed because she was at risk for committing suicide. The university’s chaplain, Father Tom O’Neill, notified Viterbo’s 2,000 students via e-mail titled “good news; Gretchen Lee” Thursday. The e-mail said, “While we have few details, the police determined that there was no foul play involved [in Lee’s disappearance].” Police have not specified whether Lee will return to classes at Viterbo University.
