The Cardinal and White take the field at Camp Randall for the first time of the year this Saturday in the annual UW Spring Game. The game pits the first-team players against the reserves in what also serves as the closing action of the spring practice period.
The game begins at noon, with gates opening at 11 a.m. Because of ongoing construction projects around Camp Randall, fans are advised to enter the stadium either from Gate 15 on the north side or Gates 21 and 22 in the southeast corner of the stadium.
Brooks Bollinger should open the action for the Cardinal team, with Jim Sorgi also playing for the Cardinal offense. The two quarterbacks will be the only two players wearing green jerseys that signify no other players are allowed to hit them.
To keep the game competitive, at least on the scoreboard, the white team will be spotted a 28-point lead. The game is not of regulation time; a quarter will last 15 minutes in the first half and 10 minutes in the second half.
Barry Alvarez will be observing the game from the box rather than coaching either of the teams. The Cardinal will be coached by defensive-backs coach Ron Cooper, while the White team will be coached by tight-ends coach Paul Chryst. Also appearing as a special guest coach for the Cardinal will be Big Ten Basketball Coach of the Year Bo Ryan.
Admission is free.
