Milwaukee mayor admits to having sex in City Hall

Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist admitted to having sex in City Hall with a former aide, a Milwaukee television station reported.

According to the Associated Press, WDJT-TV obtained portions of depositions given by Norquist and Marilyn Figueroa.

The depositions were given in March in preparation for the May 6 hearing scheduled on Figueroa’s complaint against the city. Figueroa claims Norquist sexually harassed her for five years, but Norquist insists their relationship was consensual.

“The first time that we were together on a weekend in the office she came into the office. I told her I was down there,” Norquest reportedly said. “If she wanted to come she could ? She came, we met in my office ? I was working on my book. We kissed, we hugged ? we had intercourse.”

In the depositions, Figueroa reportedly admitted to having sex with Norquist in his office, but claims she was coerced.

“I was afraid of being fired. I was afraid for my children, and I was afraid because he had mentioned that, something about he and Chief [Arthur] Jones ? were the two most powerful people in Milwaukee and so how was I supposed to ? I couldn’t go anywhere after that job,” Figueroa reportedly said.

She said the two had sex between nine and 11 times before November of 1999, and that the only reason she went to City Hall was because “I had exhausted all of my excuses, and because he made it clear to me before not to cross him.”

Norquist also occasionally considered leaving his wife for Figeuroa, the station reported. The mayor’s former bodyguard, Jones, has denied knowing of the relationship.
