Herb Kohl, D-Wis., spoke at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery Thursday about the possible benefits for University of Wisconsin researchers under new patent reform legislation. Kohl said UW is a hub of innovation for the rest of the nation and it is crucial for inventors to be able to rely on the patents. The legislation bill has already passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee and will likely be taken up by the Senate in the coming week. He also said patent reform is vital to maximizing every research dollar awarded and will help create jobs in Wisconsin.
