Six Badgers were honored by the Big Ten today led by Brian Butch who was a consensus first-team All-Big Ten and also the team’s winner of the sportsmanship award. Butch lead the Badgers with 12.7 ppg and 7.0 rpg and is the seventh straight first-team All-Big Ten member under Bo Ryan. Kirk Penney (2002-03), Devin Harris (2004), Mike Wilkinson (2005) and Alando Tucker (2006-07) all have been on the first team since Ryan has come to Madison.
Michael Flowers was named to the second-team All-Big Ten by the media and the third-team by the coaches. He also was named to Big Ten’s All-Defensive Team for the second year in a row. Flowers consistently shut down Wisconsin’s oppenent’s top scorer and ranked sixth in conference with 46 steals.
Marcus Landry was also honored by the Big Ten. The junior forward, who lead UW in scoring during conference play, was selected to the second-team by the coaches and the third team by the media.
Trevon Hughes earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors by both the media and the coaches. Hughes averaged 11.8 ppg and was third in the conference in steals with 55 on the year.
Jason Bohannon was named the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year as well. Bohannon came off the bench in all but on league game and averaged 8.9 ppg.
Finally, Joe Krabbenhoft joined Flowers on the Big Ten’s All-Defensive Team. Krabbenhoft ranked second in the league in defensive rebounds, while averaging 6.4 rpg. Wisconsin is the first team to have more than one player named to the All-Defensive Team in the three-year history of the award.
