After claiming the outright Big Ten Championship last week with wins over Penn State and Northwestern, Wisconsin moved up two spots in both polls. UW is now 6th in the coaches’ poll and 8th in the AP.
After beating rival Duke last week North Carolina remains at the top of both polls. UNC, Memphis, UCLA, Tennessee, and Kansas make up the top five in the AP, while UNC, UCLA, Memphis, Tennessee, and Kansas are the top five in the coaches’ poll.
In the Big Ten, three other teams remained ranked this week, but with Purdue, Michigan State, and Indiana all losing this week, they all dropped in the rankings. The Boilermakers dropped two spots in the AP to 17th and one in the coaches to 16th. Michigan State is 19th in both polls. Indiana dropped the furtherest after losing to Penn State Sunday. The Hoosiers dropped four spots in the AP to 22nd and three in the coaches’ poll to 20th.
Wisconsin now enters the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis this weeked as the No. 1 seed and will face the winner of the Iowa and Michigan game Friday morning at 11 a.m. live on ESPN. The last two time UW was the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, the Badgers lost their first game.
