Scone Squirrel surfaces as Madison’s beloved food-bearing rodent

Scone Squirrel surfaces as Madisons beloved food-bearing rodent

Move over, Pizza Rat. There’s a new rodent in town.

A few months ago, the internet collectively fell in love with a plucky little rat in New York lugging an entire slice of pizza down a flight of stairs in a subway station.

The rodent quickly earned a hashtag and spread across news feeds nationwide. Its tremendous strength and patience for hauling the enormous slice down the stairs captivated viewers.

But today is not Pizza Rat’s day. This day belongs to Madison’s latest food-bearing rodent, Scone Squirrel.

Social media users snapped pictures of the animal this morning, as it took advantage of the warm weather to perform an ambitious pastry heist.

But some doubt remains as to whether or not the squirrel is indeed grasping a scone in the picture. Some Facebook users projected that the item is actually a turnover, as its triangular shape and icing would indicate.

The squirrel could not be reached for comment on this issue.
